Spotlight: Super Great Delegates and Alumni

At LYS, truly “no man is an island.” This is not only the theme of LYS, but it’s also the most important lesson learned at LYS. And it’s something that delegates take with them throughout their lives. We love hearing about all the exciting things happening in our delegates’ and alums’ lives — and we wanted to share a few super great stories.

Super Great LYS Delegate and Alumni News:

-       Joseph Florida, a Zachary High School senior and 2014 LYS delegate, has been accepted into and will attend the U.S. Naval Academy. This is a HUGE honor, especially since only 10% of applicants are accepted into our nation’s military academies. Joseph attended LYS last summer as a BP Scholar. Check out the article featured on the Zachary High School website. WE ARE PROUD OF YOU, SAY, WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!

-       Abhi Shah, an Airline High School senior and 2014 LYS delegate, was one of two Louisiana students chosen for the United States Senate Youth Program in Washington D.C. this upcoming March. SUPER GREAT!

-       LYS alum Bradley Williams was named LSU's 2014 Homecoming King! Louisiana’s best.

Check out this great blog post on the leadership lessons learned at LYS by Destrehan High School students Kristen Yent, Olivia Messina, Savannah Joseph, Julisa Martijn, Lisa Dempsey, Naomi Westbrook, and Faith Ryan. SUPER GREAT job getting students involved and spreading the word about LYS: click here.

Thanks to all those who came out for the LYS 2014 delegate reunion — what a great turnout! We hope you had as much fun as we did catching up and reliving the days that were LYS.
