Every year, the Louisiana Youth Seminar draws over 300 high school students from across Louisiana and the greater Gulf Coast region. Some students travel hundreds of miles to attend LYS, and some even attend multiple years in a row to experience the seminar that many describe as “life changing.” As a result, many students want to be a part of the joy of LYS long after their time as a LYS delegate.
So, today, we want you to remember “that feeling -- that LYS feeling!” Whether you were a delegate in 1971, 1991, 2001 or more recently, there are many ways you can continue to be involved with LYS.
Attend Opening Convocation! The LYS Opening Convocation is always open to all -- alumni, friends, and family. Feel free to stop by the ballroom in the LSU Student Union on Sunday, July 16th at 2:00 pm to see the 2017 delegation, watch staff’s opening skit, and marvel at the 2017 backdrop and decorations!
Share your Story! LYS is always looking for opportunities to hear what delegate alumni are accomplishing beyond high school. Whether it’s about an initiative you’re leading on your college campus, an exciting new professional venture, or anything in between, we want to hear about it! Send us an email lys@louisianayouthseminar.org. We might even feature your story in an upcoming blog post.
Follow us on Social Media! LYS aims to connect and engage with future, current, and past delegates through Facebook and Instagram. You can find us @louisianayouthseminar, so “Follow” and “Like” LYS to keep up with all things Red and White! PLUS, during seminar this year you’ll be able to experience LYS first-hand again through a series of Facebook Live posts.
4. Give the Gift of Leadership! There is still time to donate to the 1971 Campaign. In honor of the year LYS was established, we’re asking individuals to donate $19.71. This is a small gift that can make a huge difference. In fact, when 28 people donate this amount, a student in need of tuition assistance is given the opportunity attend LYS. So, gather 27 friends and give the gift of leadership today!
